Money Score

Teaches: Money | 7 min | You need: Nothing!

What you will learn

Good money needs to be easy to split, carry, and keep. And it must be hard to make more.

Steps

  1. 1

Pick any object near you (a coin, a leaf, a stone, a piece of fruit, a piece of paper).

  2. 2

Score it from 1 to 5 on each of these: Can you split it into smaller pieces? (Divisible)

  3. 3

Can you carry 100 of them? (Portable)

  4. 4

Will it last a whole year without breaking or rotting? (Durable)

  5. 5

Is it hard to find or make more? (Scarce)

  6. 6

Can everyone tell it is real? (Recognisable)

  7. 7

Is each one the same as any other? (Fungible)

  8. 8

Add up the score. The highest score wins! Now try with a different object.
