Copy Game

Teaches: Network | 5 min | You need: Nothing!

What you will learn

When many people hold copies of the same record, no one person can change or destroy it.

Steps

  1. 1

Think of an important fact. Example: "There are 21 million Bitcoin."

  2. 2

Imagine only ONE person in the world knows this fact. They forget it — it is gone forever.

  3. 3

Now imagine 100 people know it. 10 forget. 90 still remember. The fact survives!

  4. 4

Now imagine 10,000 people know it. Even if 5,000 forget, the fact is safe.

  5. 5

One person tries to change it to "22 million." But 9,999 others say "No, it is 21 million." The liar is ignored.

  6. 6

This is how Bitcoin works. Thousands of computers hold copies. No one can change the rules alone.

What you learned

Decentralisation means many copies, no single point of control. This makes Bitcoin very hard to cheat or shut down.

Play with others?

Tell 5 people a fact. Then whisper a WRONG version to one person. Ask everyone to say the fact. The group catches the mistake.
